28/02/2014

At the moment we are still in the early stages of the production.

currently we are:

– Looking at the Linkage project and how we can work with each other
– Making storyboard for the documentary,  this documentary will not be narrated so we cannot build a script.
– We have been visiting the park to understand a bit more about what the project is about.
– Soon we will be recording some preview clips, for this we will be visiting the park again and recording a wild track as well as interviewing a few people using the park.
– We are currently in the process of contacting interviewees,  such as  a member of the linkage group and volunteers.

Today we visited the park, and took a couple of pictures for the blog. We also caught up with Chelsey, she was able to provide us with a lot of information on the history of the park and how they envision the park to look like when the restoration is finished.

One of the things they are looking to spend some of their budget on is the restoration of the fountain, which as you can see in the picture below is in dire need of a little TLC.

This weekend we visited the park, we have had a few difficulties with communication, however rather than stopping our progress. So instead of halting work, we decided to use our time wisely and create a more detailed plan of our ideas and what we still needed to do. we also took a trip down to the park on Saturday while the 5K run was on to record some sounds and to talk to some of the volunteers and organisers. We will hopefully have some audio uploaded soon.

Today, Dan and I, were able to secure an interview with one of the members of Boultham park advisory group John Pye, who offered a lot of information and history about the park. He was very enthusiastic about the future of the park, and also looked back on fond memories. He talked about when there used to be the Boating Lake and the miniature train line as well as him hosting a yearly music festival, which was sadly cancelled. John was the infamous person who made and set up the beacon at the side of the lake for the golden Jubilee. We recorded the whole interview, which Darleen is currently in the process of editing and hopefully we can upload it to the blog.

Today we had our working progress presentation, we had a few meeting to discuss and make a presentation. For this we also made a few clips of audio that we already have. And pictures and a timetable of what we still need to do, which turns out to be quite a bit. However its all coming together slowly and soon we will have all of the recording done so we can focus on the editing and creating a great piece of work.

Today we also took a trip to Boultham park residential home, where we were able to talk to some of the residents about the history of the park and their memories. It was a great opportunity and found some really useful information and stories that we look forward to sharing.

At this moment in time Darleen is busy with the editing, whilst Dan and Molly are looking for music which we could use in the piece, we are currently looking at loads of free music sites that we can legally use in our documentary. Dan is also currently sorting consent forms for everyone who took part in putting the documentary together!

Today Dan and i were able to hear the first draft of our documentary which Darleen has been working hard on. Its really starting to take shape but there were still some amendments that needed doing, we have put up a small clip on the Idea progression page, so go and take a look. Now we are sending out some suggestions and ideas to Darleen where we  feel we could improve. Since Darleen has been listening to the audio, and editing it herself, it would be good to get an outsider’s opinion

Later on that day…

Here is some of the audio that didn’t make it into our documentary. It was all exceptional, and we really regret that all of it couldn’t be used!
